Most ideal future?

Created by: zrudge95
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2018
Published: Apr. 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1) Islanders give JT a parting gift by letting him get the extra year on his deal with the leafs through a sign-and-trade.

2) Let people go "home" to clear cap for the future by moving Marleau and Martin back to their old teams.

3) Continue shedding cap while fixing our RHD hole (finally) by making a blockbuster with Vegas - out with Horton's contract (and lots of picks/prospects), bring in a good young RD in Miller.

4) Lock in the current core and win all of the cups :)

- Although Tavares makes this team a potential cup favourite, it is hard to see how we resign everyone like Andersen, Dermott, Liljegren, etc. when the time comes. Makes it tight, but might be worth the cap hell.

Despite multiple flaws in the process, u made this a pretty good team.

I believe that their is a real chance that Tavares signs in Toronto. Just an opinion. ...

So if it’s a sign and trade like you have here be prepared to say goodbye to one of the kids, a pick and a prospect. If your trading just for his rights then that’s more realistic but you can’t sign him for 8 years.

Tavares isn't coming. Leafs can't afford it, considering you've underpaid Matthews by abt 750k, and Dermott and Lilegren will both need contracts. Anyway, the Leafs wouldn't be able to give him the playing time he deserves...
