Nylander has never had as many points as filip forsberg and he gets 6 million. 6.5 million is being fairly generous.

I believe JVR said he would take a pay cut, how much that would be idk. To me JVR is the only question mark for the leafs this off season.

Tavares could be paid more, they have 5.5 mil in cap space, He should only get 11-12 because hes not Connor Mcdavid although hes franchise talent.

tavares should be making 14M+ if hes only taking a 1 year deal - nylander needs another 500k and JVR another mil at least

comparables are EHlers (6.0) Forsberg (6.0) and Pastrnak (6.67)

all of those comparables had more pts going into RFA. so no, Nylander won't be getting more than that. I think he ends up with 6.25

Nylander isn't getting 7 mil. Pastrnak just had a 34g/70pt year and got 6.66.
Ehlers, take 1 spot behind him, had 25g/64 pts and got 6.

I think you are missing the point on tavares. he isnt gonna cripple a teams cap if he truly wants to win a cup.
he could take 11-12 million, be the 2nd highest paid player in the league and have a chance to become a legend in toronto

im not missing the point - if hes risking his future for 1 year shot at the cup hes going to take every last penny toronto has to fit him in. in this case u can believe that nylander is taking 6.5, and if thats true tavares is getting 15M minimum because u have so much space

no what makes no sense is him signing with a team for 1 year for way less than he could make and way less than that team can afford. if he signs with toronto for one year its cos he thinks the team is already a cup contender, therefore doesnt need the extra cap space for "building around a one year deal"

and once again, if he is signing for a year with the intention of winning a cup, why is he asking 15 mil which cripples his chance of winning said cup?
what would tavares prefer? 1 year x 10-11 mil on a contender or 1 year x 15 mil on a team that doesnt make it out of rd 1 due to jt taking up 20% of the cap?
