I'm pretty sure the Sabres would protect ROR.

First off the earliest Seattle would get a franchise, Is in the 2020/2021 season Gustav Nyquist wont even be wearing a Detroit uniform by then. And besides a vast majority of these players would be protected.

yeah no chance ROR is unprotected this is not likely to happen was hoping for better

that is if he is still with Buffalo. and even if he still is, with the same rules that apply to vegas expansion means that Reinhart and Eichel need to be protected so those will be 2 out of the 4 forwards spots, okposo will be protected so unless you decide to do 8 skaters instead of the 4-3-1. With his comments about losing the love of the game during the season multiple times, I wouldn't be surprised if he is part of a draft day deal that will open up cap space to make a run at tavares.
