Why don't any of these posts have Timothy Liljegren making the team? I thought he was playing pretty darn good. ...About 10 posts ago 1 team did, but another one traded him away! Am I missing something there?

One thing these Leafs and this management has done well, so far, is not throwing money at a problem for a quick fix. The best course of action is either to somehow trade for a young defenceman or move up in the draft and get a defenseman they can develop, Clearly, either is not a quick fix here, but I think the name of the game for Leafs fans is patience.

Timothy Liljegren is NOT NHL ready. He may get a quick look and there is always a chance he surprises absolutely everyone, but the Leafs have said on countless occasions that they are going to be patient with him. Expect him in the lineup on a regular basis no sooner than the start of the 2019-20 season.

I agree with your statement. Also I want to believe that with all the cap space next season that we'll go all in with out gambling with the future of the club. That being said I believe that i improved the team with out gambling with the team future. I hope that John Taveres and John Carlson will come to Toronto and get us far in the playoff next year. In the end I agree with your statement.

Thanks @Fox_mulder. To actually be competitive in the Jonny Tavares sweepstakes, the Leafs will probably have to give him max term, which would terribly mess up their future cap situation, even though it seems to raise approximately $2 million each season. Taking a year contract like that, while definitely clever, puts basically all the risk on the player. Should Tavares get injured next season playing on a 1 year, that could significantly impact his hockey future, depending of course on the seriousness of the injury and such. Still a pretty huge risk though.
