Trade Down with VAN

Created by: TkachukNorris79

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 29, 2018

Description
One of the only good aspects of Ottawa's management is their amateur scouting, but they traded away 2nds for both Brassard and Phaneuf, who are both gone (stupid). In this deal, Vancouver gives up their 2nd round pick to move up to #4 and take their ever-so-needed RHD PMD in Boqvist. Ottawa moves down to 7 and selects one of Dobson (they have Karlsson and Chabot as offensive studs on the blue line, and Wolanin in the wings. Dobson is going to be an all-situation two-way defenseman ala Pietrangelo/Suter style)

Ottawa moves down but gets a 2nd in a deep draft, where they can hopefully find another diamond like Formenton. They'd have 3 picks in the top 36.

I think there’s too much of a risk. Ottawa NEEDS to hit with this pick because they’re giving up a potential lottery pick next year.

Not sure why Canucks would move up to the fourth position unless they want Brady Tkachuck. At 7 they can grab Hughes, Boqvist, Walhstrom, Dobson, or even Bouchard.
I am aware not all five of those prospects will be there, but at least three of them will be.
Plus Vancouver would have the 37th overall pick, that could be another stud.

Canucks say no. Pick 4 will be either Tkachuk or Zadina whoever doesn't get picked at 3. We don't need forwards, we need defensemen. I'd rather wait and get someone like Dobson or Hughes, and then have that deep 2nd pick then reach for Boqvist.

Detroit is extremely interested in both Boqvist and Dobson unless Boqvist is available at #6 when Detroit picks they would take Dobson with the #6 pick doubt Dobson makes it to #7.
