Description
If we draft in the #6 slot, it is unlikely anyone will be ready to play this year unless maybe Bouchard falls to us at pick 6. So assuming we get no one affecting this years lineup, here is what to expect.

10 million left on the cap. I'd love to see them eat a contract like orpik for 1 year and steal a pick out of it. There are enough teams looking to free up cap.

The problem with that concept is that they need the lineup spots in order to give some young guys opportunities. If they eat a contract it would have to be someone who is completely done that just be sent to the minors or onto the LTIR (Like a David Clarkson type). Orpik would expect playing time and that means Hicketts or one of the young guys would be left out.

No i get that but i dont care if Ericsson and kronwall and orpik dont get enough ice time. You can even flip orpik at the trade deadline for a team looking for depth.
