Trades
COL
  1. Burakovsky, André
  2. Grubauer, Philipp
  3. 2018 1st round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Colorado needs a goalie of the future and a young top-6 forward. Burakovsky could be a nice buy-low move. The 1st round pick might be a stretch, but Sakic has proven he shoots high and stands his ground when moving big-time players.
WSH
  1. Barrie, Tyson
Additional Details:
Hi-end puck moving defenseman. Could replace John Carlson if he leaves as a UFA. Barrie is coming off of a career year, so his value may never be higher.

You're right about Sakic so seems about right
Also, maybe it's cause I'm a Leaf fan but can't help feeling like they'd be a good trade partner, sparks plus marlies forward...

I think the caps would like to add another d, but no way they can afford barrie. I think they will give carlson an extension. would think they would want one of timmins or makar back.

I have my doubts about the leafs as a trade partner. It seems to make sense, because Toronto needs a defenseman and they have plenty of young forwards. The problem I see is that Sakic asks the moon for his established players, especially a right-handed defenseman as offensively prolific as Barrie. So he’s probably looking at Mather or Nylander as the return. But if you’re a Shanahan, how do you justify giving up a 20 or 21 year old forward with elite upside for a 27 year old defenseman who struggles in his own end at times? I’m not sure it’s a fit.

They could make it work with Barrie if Carlson walks, but not if he stays.

Sakic wants to continue in the direction of adding young talent, so Timmins and Makar are pretty much untouchable. They’re CO’s two best prospects
