That's an extreme overpayment for O'reilly, don't get me wrong I like what he brings just not at that price

Absolutely. ROR is a good player, but 3.5 pieces for one is a very hefty price.

That’s kind of the type of package BUF ave up for ROR when he was a year away from UFA so that’s the type of package that would pry him away. Buffalo is not in a cap crunch so the only deals I would do are slight overpayments. Good job I’m definitely stealing this later.

huge overpay. Mcleod is potential top 6. Severson is top 4. and Bratt is locked in at top 9 with upside potential. Plus a first round pick? for a guy who has 7.5 mil left on his tag? Would not pay that for him

Severson is not a top 4, he's top 4 on NJ because the D sucks, Bratt was irrelevant in the second half of the season, McLeod is completely unproven.

severson is 23 year old defensemen who has the longest contract on the team. You really going to give up on a player after one season? same goes for Bratt. You're really going to give up on him because he hit a rough patch in the second half? Bratt is 19 and was a 6th(!!) round pick. Also, not to mention, the reason he sat was because the devils went out an acquired proven guys like Grabner and maroon for the playoff push. Hynes gave those two every opportunity to succeed and that meant someone (Bratt) was going to be the odd man out. So don't talk about irrelevant with me. This was his first nhl season and I am damn sure it was a pretty good one for being a 19 year old 6th round pick. I bet you were the same person who gave up on Hall last year when he came in and didn't make the impact people thought he would. Giving up on players in a year is foolish and eliminates the whole purpose of drafting them in the first place. You don't buy a team, you create one. You see it in every sport.

And here you are complaining about how the defense sucks (Its not great but it doesn't flat out suck) but yet your trading away a defensemen in that trade for a guy who brings a 7.5 mil cap hit who will play as your second line center? A position the devils actually have depth at? Hichier, Zajac, Zacha, Mcleod, Boyle, Colemen are ALL centers. Why trade away one of your D-men for a guy in a position you don't necessarily need who brings on the largest cap hit on the team? And then not have any additions on defense? Doesn't make sense.
