Not retaining on ror. You can add a b prospect or a 2nd rounder, make it a 3rd if we take benn.

No retaining and instead of benn you put in another early round pick.

Who puts in another pick? Ror and a 2nd for 3oa is fine. 3oa picks are potential difference makers, early seconds are most likely to see some nhl time, no guarantees.

remember that we're talking about ROR, the guy that said at the end of the season that playing in Buffalo is sucking the life out of him :P Getting a 3rd overall for the guy seems like a lot IMO

A third overall (in division) for ROR, who has topped out at 60 points?!!! No. Just no.

The Calgary deal is OK. I'd prefer Sam Bennett to Lazar and might even be willing to sweeten a bit. Same with Jankowski. If Calgary is interested in "current assets" (as opposed to future), I'd ask for Poirier and throw in Byron ... the one that got away.

I don't know man.
A consistent 60 point #1C that can play everything....Kind of what MTL really needs. Unless you are willing to spend what $13 million+ on Tavares or $7million+ on Stastny.
O'Reilly gives you more for less.
27 years old, plays PK, PP, 200 foot player, 20 min per night. seems like a player I would rather have then a 18 year old Zadina that could probably out up 60 at some point.

I don't know enough about Zadina's ceiling to make that call. But over on the BUFFALO FANS post, The Architect made a decent case for Tavares AND ROR. I am mulling it.

What about the Bennett instead of Lazar ask?

Oh 100% Bennett over Lazar.
I also don't know Zadina ceiling but I think ROR gives MTL a great consistent ceiling at a much needed position. Plus if you got him, you really dont need to trade patchs, but I am fine with trading him at this point, Especially if you get Välimäki. This kid is a stud Dmen. very smooth player
