Then you make a mock trade sending us 33 year old tatar and late picks in future drafts for a key player who just put up 79 points in 74 games last season and is the heart of the sabres. Let alone retaining on an already amazing value contract

Not a chance in H this trade happens.
Jack Quinn isn't being traded, especially for rentals.

Not saying it’s a trade the Sabres should make BTW, just saying that 8 pts vs. 9 pts. Is not a significant difference.</div></div>
This wasn't supposed to be a slight at Johnson or saying that ollofsson was better, my bad. Just pointing out essentially that the trade makes no sense for the Sabres to add the picks.

Forget about the Johnson trade, although he does know what it takes to win a Cup, despite not doing it all by himself.
The real question is, d you want a bona fide goalie or not? If you do, the cost will be significant.
As for Kulich. Put him in next year's lineup with a fully healthy top-9. You can't, and playing him on the fourth line is a waste.
However, if you want a downgrade (which would be great,) switch out Kulich and put in Krebs. Not sure if that would get it done but I'd do that in a heartbeat.</div></div>
You make room on the roster for players like Kulich. There's no way the sabres just give up on him at 19/20 years old.

Benson mitts Kulich

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boos</b></div><div>Victor has been playing much better. But does he have two Cup rings? Johnson's also in Chicago where the Hawks have been in tank mode for the past couple of seasons.
As for Kulich, I like the player, but the emergence of Benson, along with Rosen beating him out for a spot, squeezed him out of the picture.
It's a hefty price but getting Saros for two+ seasons allows the Sabres to reset their goalie situation. It also gives them a great shot at ending the playoff drought this season and progressing in the playoffs the next two years.</div></div>
Johnson won two cups by himself? Weird I thought that was a team achievement. No reason to waste a second on a zero upgrade situation.
You act like Kulich is done for after being sent down cus he wasn't going to get the minutes he needs. Greenway came back and he got sent down to keep producing for the amerks. He's only 19 btw.
Goalies very rarely get a top prospect in return. Switch Kulich for someone lesser.

Barzal and Sorokin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike_Gartner</b></div><div>i understand that, but Buffalo should have no issue fitting those 2 guys under the cap.
i'm not taking anything away from Levi, but Sorokin is a top 3 goalie in the league and would dramatically improve Buffalo.
and i can't prove it, but feel like Barzal would thrive in Buffalo, that guy has been suffocated in NY.
if a trade like that happened today, Buffalo is in a wild card spot by Christmas and pushing the 3 seed in the Atlantic not long after.
quinn comes back, buffalo gets healthy - they are scary with those 2 guys.</div></div>
Sorokin is definitely top 3 for sure, but I don't see the sabres trading Tage pretty much ever. The difference in average to good goaltending doesn't push the Sabres to trade tage for a less dominant more expensive yet solid player in barzal.

If the salary cap didn't exist but unfortunately it does so you have to take contract value into it. Levi and tage combined are cheaper than either barzal or sorokin by themselves.
