Teach me how to Dougie OTT-CAL

Created by: TkachukNorris79

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Apparently he's available. And Bennett. Bennett's value is pretty tough to gauge. I'd say him and Ceci are probably a wash. Ceci probably holds a bit more value at this point as he's realistically at worst a #4D, and Bennett hasn't really shown anything to say he's a top 6. But he's still a recent 4OA so it's kind of a wash.

Stone and Smith are washes as well. We take on Stone as we don't resign Wideman, and you get Smith as a 4th line and get rid of Stone to let Andersson play.

That leaves Hamilton for Hoffman, 1st and a 3rd. I really like Dougie, and I think this is good value for him but I don't know if CAL bites.

Anyways, yeah I was bored.

I think the value is good. I just can't see the Flames taking on 2 more LW's when they have Johnny Hockey and Tkachuk. Fun to think about though.

Maybe replace Hoffman with 1/2 retained BR and a 2nd?

Get a beat that's super bumping then put your arms out front, lean side to siderock on

As for the post, idk why there are always these Hamilton rumors considering he's inked to a long term deal and still young but i'd say the value is there but idk how much they would want to replace him by Ceci.
If the Sens do keep Karlsson, idk if this makes much sens either. I'd rather target a partner for Karlsson then get a guy to play behind him.

For the roster, i'll say that Formenton should really get a chance at a top-9 spot and Brown too.

I wouldn't trade Hamilton alone for that package yet you think the Flames will just toss in Bennett and Stone too?

Now, Bennett and Stone aren't great assets at this point, but Hamilton certainly is.

Let me give you an idea of what Calgary needs in return for Hamilton: Dougie Hamilton for Mark Stone straight up. Elite Dman for an elite forward in the same age age group. Pure hockey trade.

Stone is better than Hamilton so stop trying to get him or add to Hamilton.

I've watched a lot of flames and a lot of sens. Dougie Hamilton is not elite, and neither is Mark Stone. That word gets used way too often. But Stone is closer to it than Hamilton. You could use the "defence are more valuable than wingers" argument but Stone is one of the few wingers who is tremendous both offensively and defensively. Over a PPG this year too on a really bad team.

I get that you wouldn't want to trade Hamilton without getting someone like Stone back, I wouldn't want to either. But there are some rumors he's being shopped, and a package like this helps you now as well as gives you a 1st this year.

No, we don't want that crappy package for an ELITE defenseman. That package makes our team worse when you factor in that Hamilton would be gone.

Quote:
There are 77 NHL defensemen that played more than 1250 minutes last year.

In that group of 77 Hamilton is ....

2nd in CF%
2nd in Shot differential
34th in goal differential
3rd in scoring chance differential
2nd in high danger chance differential

Someone above mentioned he gives up too many scoring chances.

he gave up the 12th least of the 77 in scoring chances against
he gave up the 10th least of the 77 in high danger chances against

he was ranked 56th in on ice shooting percentage and
62nd in on ice save percentage suggesting he was somewhat unlucky last season to be honest.

That is pretty ELITE.
