Dont know y people want Krug gone. I’d like to see Boston get Nurse for when Chara retires, tho, and maybe make it so the 41 yo doesn’t have to play 1/2 the game every game next year?
Because he isn't great defensively. After Chara their other two LD are bottom pairing guys (krug & Grzelyk).
Fact of the matter is with the emergence of McAvoy & even Grzelyk to a certain extent make Krug disposable - in that he has value. You aren't trading Grzelyk for a potential number one LD. Krug to the right team in the right package is a very attractive piece.
"50pt dmen don't grow on trees" - True. There were 19 of them.
Of those 19- Krug was:
- 19th on Even strength Time on ice.
-16th in Short handed time on ice*** Gostisbehere 5 seconds per game., Barrie 11 seconds per game, Krug & Gardiner 22 seconds per game.
-19 in total time on ice - with a whole 1:03 less than the next closest (Gostisbehere)
Despite putting up 59 points, he was the only Bruins defenseman to not be a + player. +10 was the next lowest from a guy who had 6 pts.
He is an offensive juggernaut, but he is very one dimensional. McAvoy & Carlo should have the right side locked down for the next decade as Top 4. Chara might have another year as a top pairing guy, but they have nobody to replace him. 5-5 Ice time Krug was 4th, JUST ahead of 21 year old Carlo, I'd expect Carlo to surpass him next year, effectively making him your 5th Dman.
Klefbom is the guy I hope they target. Good two way dman who can skate, is still young and is coming off a bad year, but could really develop into a legit top pairing. A poor man's Klingberg...
