Im ok with Eklund like sites making rumors and getting discussions going. Its all in good fun but man if he really wanted to come off as "connected" he's got to stop creating these far fetched trade rumors. Toews is one of the few guys in the league that is virtually untouchable. Maybe in the twilight of his career he could pull a Marleau and sign with the Leafs type thing but if Im in his shoes, I am not waiving my NMC for anything.

He's got a huge contract.
He's got an NMC. So he chooses where to go.
He's won cups in Chicago which makes him want to be a lifer.
He was drafted by the Hawks.
He's well respected which means Bowman more than likely won't ask him if to waive his NMC.
He's slightly on the decline so acquiring him now isn't ideal.

Toews is a Hawk for the duration of his contract. There are simply too many obstacles to jump over for a trade to work.
