To get JT signed to an 8 year deal you will need to have a sign and trade with the NYI...... the only team that can sign JT to an 8 year deal is the NYI..... all other teams are limited to 7 years.

I also do not think that JT goes for 10 million..... I believe his contract will be 12 million and up.

Zero chance he makes 12M.

And why does everyone have to point out the obvious?

I don't see the need for Panik. If you want to give a few salaries away to ARZ and sweeten the pot with some draft picks, take a draft pick back instead of a 2.8M cap hit. Take that cap hit and give it to Tavares (because as mentioned, he's getting more than 10M/yr).

I like bringing in Carlsson, and he'd likely set up the pairing as follows:
Carlsson/Weber
Mete/Petry
Emelin/Juulsen
Riley
I really don't think Emelin brings that much more to the table than Benn does. Because of the buyout to Benn, you're getting hit with a 300k-400k cap hit over 2 seasons. In a way, that makes Emelin's deal a 2.4M cap hit instead of 2M. Why not play Benn on the 3rd pair at 1.1M and rid yourself of his cap hit next season, instead of paying more for Emelin, AND pay the buyout hit on Benn for 2 seasons. By playing Benn instead of Emelin, frees up another 1M to throw JT's way.

EDIT: John Carlsson is a RD. Are we seriously going to pay Weber almost 8M, Petry 5.5M and Carlsson 7M to block Juulsen in the minors?

I do think there will be a team that will offer 12 million plus for JT...... there is a plethora of money available..... whether he takes it or not we shall see.

I am just an anal old codger...... sorry if that bothers you..... I will quote a great film...... 'I like me'.....

The teams that can afford to offer 12+ are the ones furthest from winning. No doubt someone tries to lure him in with money but after years of losing on the island, one has to think he wants to win too.
