Description
So heres the idea(which i heard from someone else so not taking any credit just putting it together): leafs help Carolina and Buffalo make a Faulk for O'Reilly deal by trading for O'Reilly and paying his signing money owed to him July 1st that Carolina does not want to pay. The cost to Carolina and Buffalo is a 2nd and 2019 top 5 protected pick.

This idea is possible(not saying will happen but Dubas is a progressive thinker and looking for any edge he can get so maybe its something he considers) and a creative way for Toronto to flex its financial advantage over other teams

Let me know what you think about the deals and we can chat. Not just "stupid idea" or "you're an idiot"

As far as the DAL deal goes, I can't see the Stars giving up a quality puck moving d-man and a potential 2nd round pick for Carrick (who is a decent d-man) who doesn't have the upside of Honka, and Leivo who would most likely serve as a 4th line player. Honka hasn't lived up to the hype yet, but he's finally in a situation to succeed, and it's one of those situations where DAL doesn't want to sell low on him, but TOR wouldn't want to pay the price DAL wants, which make sense.
Even though I think Honka is a good fit in TOR!

Fair point. My thinking was yes Honka hasnt been the player Dallas thought he'd be yet so maybe they do try and sell on his upside while thats still of value. The other reason i thought was that with another new coach coming to Dallas maybe they dont like Honka as much and he doesnt get the time there again. Carrick is a similar player to Honka with less upside for sure but more NHL experience. And yes leivo maybe still plays 4th line mins so that part may be off. And ya id love Honka on the Leafs as well

The Dallas deal is something that I fail to see happening given that both Pateryn and hamuis are on the UFA market, but other than that I can see this creative idea being possible.
