I haven't really been on the site in a while, but I know you said you saw DAL fans have been trading him, but was that involved in deals for Karlsson or other studs? In those situations I can see them trading him just for the sake of adding a superstar, but otherwise I'm kind of surprised they would be so quick to trade him haha

I mean look at what I wrote, it’s not fair but Rust+ isn’t cutting it for a 3C. Pens have no other piece worth the prIce. It just doesn’t fit as a trade.
I’m a pens fan so, I recommend posting this as a Dallas team and seeing what I mean, they love him.</div></div>
Right it's not about what is perceived as market value or what a 'fair' offer is, Janmark is just a fan favorite and is really important to the team.
He can get labeled as a 3rd line center but he's a really good all around player and can play up and down the lineup.
I'm sure just like fans of all teams who overvalue their players DAL fans overvalue Janmark, but it's not like he's a scrap who's worth worth a 3rd round pick

So for Panarin they basically want Panarin plus more? I guess if you view Hintz and Honka as worthless then you the trade isn't appealing. I just meant from DAL what would CBJ want? I guess with what Jarmo is looking for that would be Benn or Seguin.

Gotta think DAL will do this deal for Skinner. I like that trade for MN if they trade Dumba or Spurgeon for a different forward.

Brodin is not better than Krug. That is a Wild fan thing. Listening to sports shows in Minnesota, one of the beat writers was talking about how Fenton realizes that Wild people over value their own players and it's way tougher to make trades than he thought.
Looking at that trade, a top 4 of Suter-Spurgeon-Krug-Dumba looks really good. Plus Zucker is going to want a lot of money, so Heinen could make sense.
I think it's a good trade.

It does need to end. When fans of a team demand a top 5 NHL prospect, a NHL ready d-man, two first round picks, 1-2 nhl ready forwards, and a prospect, and gets told "not enough, we're talking about ERIK KARLSSON HERE", it gets a little old.

Dallas goes for a 2nd Line Winger - Trades with CAR (Skinner) & PHI (Lehtera)
I don't think there would need to be any salary retained in this deal. Flyers get a center with more offensive ability for only 3.5 mil this year.

There are plenty of them out there. Just remember free agent centers require term, and centers that contribute will cost picks. You're not going to get a pick to get your 3c.

The have Janmark that played center at some point, Seguin, Shore, Faksa, Hanzal, Dickinson, also Benn and Pitlick have played center. Also Spezza played mostly wing last year didn't he?</div></div>
I should probably say quality center depth. Even a lineup of Seguin, Faksa, Janmark, Shore at center doesn't look great. Janmark can play center, but if he plays 3c our top 6 wingers don't look great. Benn could play center, but is much more effective at wing. Ideally this year the centers would be Seguin, Spezza, Faksa, and Hanzal/Hintz.
All of those guys do play center, but whether or not they are quality centers or should be playing center is another issue. Plus, putting Spezza between Janmark and Radulov looks like a really good line.

Okay, then DAL will offer you a 4th or 5th rounder for him in a trade. No Spezza. No picks. Would that work?

What do you mean by this statement? It sounds like you want to trade your player for the same player, then get something else. I'm just curious so like from a DAL perspective if we wanted Brodin would we have to give Lindell + something for him?

Flyers June 21 - Simmonds to MIN for 1st rounder
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Yes but he also made significantly less than Spezza plus you are getting a more capable backup than Lehtonen</div></div>
He makes 2.5 mil more than Filppula did, which DAL is taking on 2.5 in Neuvirth. so it's the same. Lehtonen is free agent, and won't be resigned, and there are plenty of backup goalies in free agency this year. It'd be completely different if Spezza had 2 or more years left, but he has one year left and DAL is not in a cap crunch.
If DAL trades Spezza, they have to go out and sign a new center. Let's say that center (someone like Tyler Bozak) will get 4-5 million. Now DAL paid a 3rd round pick for 2.3 mil in cap space, which they still don't need.
DAL lacks depth at center, so they aren't likely to trade one, much less give up a 3rd round pick to give one up.

That was also a different situation, TB needed to move Filppula because he had a NMC and they needed to move him before expansion draft.

I get that, and I'm just stating that you won't get a pick back for Spezza. You don't have to take him on, but you won't get a pick for doing so.

Flyers June 21 - Simmonds to MIN for 1st rounder
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mardzy</b></div><div>He averaged 13 minutes ice time last year. With a year at 7.5 wouldn't it make sense for them to move on, especially if that meant the team could take on Kovalchuck, JVR, or even Voynov?</div></div>
If you don't just look at a stat line at the end of the season, you would know that Ken Hitchkock was the worst possible coach for Spezza, and utilizing him in a 4th line role, with an emphasis on defense, would most likely not produce more than 26 points. Spezza, along with a lot of other players, were set up for failure last year. The year before he had 50 points in 68 games, and the year before that 63 points in 75 games. So yes, he is getting up there in age, but he was set up failure last year and his 13 min and 26 points was not unexpected.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mardzy</b></div><div>What does a player with a 7.5 mil cap hit and 26 points bring in return?</div></div>
I'm not sure if you mean as far as what he brings to the team, or what he brings return in a trade, but I think he can still bring 40 points to a team. Put him between Janmark and Radulov, and he'll be just fine. He probably doesn't have much trade value, but I would rather keep him for 1 year than give up assets to get rid of him.

Do people realistically expect to get a 2nd and 3rd for 5 mil in cap relief. PHI would pay 5 mil for 1 year of a 3rd line center which is exactly what they need in their current cap situation. I'm just saying, teams aren't getting a 2nd round pick to "take on" Spezza.
They can still sign Kovalchuck and get a backup goalie with current cap space.

They don't need the cap relief. Spezza isn't a cap dump. They still have 7 mil in cap space with him. I know everyone on this site thinks Spezza is a cap dump but that's just not case.

I think a trade with DAL for Spezza is more like Spezza for a 3rd, or DAL gives up a 4th or 5th for Neuvirth. Not sure DAL would give up 2nd, 3rd and Spezza for Neurvirth.

Your Dumba 1-for-1 idea has merit, for sure. Dumba is young enough and plays a position of need in Toronto, so that's certainly something to have a conversation about.</div></div>
