I like this..... new fun way to do it:

Minnesota Wild Trade:
Charlie Coyle & Matt Dumba & Tyler Ennis + one of the 2018 3rd's; (approx. $13.8M)

to

Toronto Maple Leafs for:
Connor Brown + Josh Leivo + Nakita Zaitsev + Calvin Pickard + 2018 1st rd pick (25th Overall) = $8.325M

That's enticing, but for Dumba I think the asking price would be Nylander. The value seems very fair to me though! I like that trade quite a lot! If I'm Fenton I'd think very long and hard about that one!

Edit: the more I think about this the more I like it. Zaitsev is the type of player we need, a big physical defenseman. If it were Spurgeon instead of Dumba I think the Wild say absolutely, although I don't think Spurgeon would get that value. Very well done

If Nylander (never Marner) was part of the deal it would have to look like this:
Coyle & Dumba (can be willing to take Ennis $ if a draft pick/C prospect was involved)
for
Nylander & Ozhiganov (possible Brodin/Gardiner packaged as well)

I think Wild say no, I know Boudreau really likes Greenway and he's our only true LW prospect

Seems like a lot to give up from MTL perspective, but I think I'd take it. Only thing is Zadina is left handed despite playing the RW, I'd still be ecstatic to have him

I'd be willing to give up those two for a Nylander package, what would it take for TOR to include Zaitsev instead of Ozhiganov? Maybe 24 OA pick?

"If you're offering for one of our defenseman, another defenseman of the same handedness will have to come back in return."

What do you mean by this statement? It sounds like you want to trade your player for the same player, then get something else. I'm just curious so like from a DAL perspective if we wanted Brodin would we have to give Lindell + something for him?

Exactly, as another example moving Dumba for someone like Erik Karlsson (not that this would happen, but just to show you what I mean). The player coming back doesn't have to be the same caliber of player the Wild would be trading but if we are moving a top 4 defenseman we don't have one in our farm system that is ready to step up into that roll to fill the hole that trading a Dumba/Brodin/Spurgeon would create.

IMO, it would be the Flyers adding a 1st round pick to make this deal work, not the Wild. Greenway is going to be a stud for the next 10-12 years, Simmonds is a depreciating asset.

Problem is Tavares isnt coming here, as much as we all would like him to. Also we'd have to find someone to fill Brodin's role (who could be seeing top pairing minutes if we don't trade him with the Suter injury).

I'm not a fan of this deal at all. The Wild get a bunch of decent players, and the Leafs get one of the best young right-handed defenseman in the world. Take out Leivo or Brown and throw in Timothy Liljegren and I would think about it...or take out everything and give us Nylander and the 1st...or...replace Dumba with Spurgeon. Those are my counter offers.

I did something similar to your counter offers in another post, it was based around Dumba and Coyle for Nylander and Zaitsev with some picks going either way

Tavares wasn't even part of my thinking here. I know he's not coming here, so I didn't even bother to consider him. Obviously trading Brodin hinges on Suter's health, but...for the #10, I might gamble. I would love (as we've done in many scenarios) to find a way to basically swap Brodin for Nurse (with other pieces involved to even things out).

What I wish more than anything is for the Wild to trade Spurgeon...and I know I'm in the minority here.

Intriguing... My basic breakdown of this would be: Dumba = Nylander, Zucker > Zaitsev, and Coyle > the 25th. The point to argue most here is the value analysis between Dumba and Nylander. I think their value is VERY close, but most would probably think Nylander has more. This deal would also probably hinge on who is available at 25...there are several interesting prospect who should be available near the end of the 1st round. But, I would probably ask for Liljegren instead of the 25th.
So, my counter would be: Dumba, Zucker, Coyle for Nylander, Zaitsev, Liljegren and a the Sharks 2018 2nd rounder. What says you?

It is a very good post. I do think you give a bit too much to Toronto in that deal...but it's close. I also worry about Zaitzev...many leafs fans seem very eager to get rid of him. I haven't seen enough of him to make a good value assessment though.

I'd think the Leafs brass would not be keen on flipping BOTH Nylander and Liljgren; with that said here are 2 options:
Nylander + Zaitsev + 25th Overall + A. Nielsen (in AHL, prjects as a 4-6th DEF.)
for
Dumba + Zucker (rights) + Coyle + Ennis' cap dump

or
Connor Brown + Zaitsev + Liljgren + J. Leivo + Matt Martin $ dump + 2nd's in 2019/2020
for
Dumba + Zucker (rights) + Coyle + Ennis' cap dump
