So pittsburgh trades their best scoring winger, best prospect, and a great 3c on a great contract for an "okay" player in Backlund, a 4th liner in Frolik, a washed up awful contract in Brouwer, and a big cap hit in Brodie... Pittsburgh passes big time

LOL, Backlund is not a cap dump.
I think this is all a bit of overkill, too many pieces moving.
Could keep the first trade would have to adjust it. Pitt is gonna have a tough time with cap space so not a bad idea to trade with them, but we are sending a lot of cap their way.
Wouldn't make the 2nd trade.
If TB actually accepted the third, absolutely lets do it.

Brassard @ 3 mill>>>>>>>>>>>>> backlund @ 5.3 mill
sheary= frolik... sheary younger and cheaper so pens aren't gaining anything
kessel>>>>>>>>>>>>>> brouwer
sprong and brodie dont' even play the same positions so not even a good comparison. but brodie is better at his position than sprong is at his

Ya you're not getting Kessel with that trade

Backlund is a elite defensively puts up more points is younger and dose not need a new contract after this season he is far more valuable than brassard it's not even close.
Sheary and frolik are closer but the edge goes to frolik with about the same points average but his speed and elite penalty killing give him the edge.
Kessel Brower no brainer but I do think Brower could do better under a better coach and he's still a good PK,er our coach nuturalized him from a constant 20/20 guy
Brodie Sprong not good comparison but gives you the ability to trade Latang or Maatta for a nice return or keep them all

I agree with most of what you're saying, The big thing is you want Kessel. I doubt Pittsburgh trades him unless its a big overpayment. Any trade needs to favor Pittsburgh because they do not need to trade him. Backlund would be nice to have defensively, but he's more expensive and a wash offensively IMO. Same with Sheary and Frolik. I want Sheary gone cause I think he's useless, but again, he's cheaper and thats what Pittsburgh needs. And Brodie would be nice to have, but I am a Letang fan so I wouldn't be in favor of trading him.
