Youth Retool

Created by: cbone
Team: 2018-19 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 1, 2018
Published: Jun. 1, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A retool in the summer to inject the lineup with some young energy to surround the core.

Having 4 1st round picks is highly unlikely to happen but this years draft class is a strong one and since Sens don't have a 1st next year they should load up on high end prospects this year.

Tkachuck at 3, Boqvist at 5, Kotkaniemi at 10 and Kaut at 22.

With this lineup, the Sens are below their internal cap (~68mil) and left with plenty of cap space to extend Duchene and EK next summer.

This lineup will have growing pains in first couple of months but if Andy returns to form this lineup should compete for a playoff spot.
Also, Belleville will be more competitive with top prospects such as, Formenton, Batherson, Kotkaniemi, Kaut, Jaros and Gustavsson.

Wouldn't be surprised with Chiarelli. He's looking for a right shot puck moving D and is willing to trade the 10th OA to tend to this need. He traded a !st overall for Larsson. Ceci has more offensive upside than Larsson and while he may not defend as well as Larsson he still gets the job done defensively (when not paired with Phaneuf). Also, Ceci has always had the potential to produce on the PP but behind EK he has never got a chance in Ottawa.

Condon and Montoya are even swaps, Sens get a cheaper backup and Oilers get a back up who has shown stints of being a very good backup.
