2015-16 Blackhawks ReTool

Created by: NickyG88
Team: 2015-16 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2015
Published: Jun. 20, 2015
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades can involve any team, I just felt that these were fairly realistic.

Tim Gleason can be replaced with any veteran defense man that will cost under $1,200,000.

If Oduya costs too much and Hawks are unable to resign him, then bring up Svedberg, Pokka, or Paliotta.

Hard to rate with the "anything" trades but looks like a solid roster.

Very solid, but I really think Oduya is going to fetch 4.5-5.25M on the open market

I understand where you are coming from. I say anything because they really do not need much in return for those players, it is just a salary dump. I would take literally anything for them to get rid of Bickell. I think Raanta is worthy of a mid round selection, maybe second if they are lucky. Versteeg would probably get them a late round pick.

Why not just keep Raanta just in case, and play him in the minors?

I'll give it 4 stars because nothing is really messed up. Saad and Kruger contracts are realistic.

Richards and Oduya likely not though. Richards already took a discount to win a cup. Honestly, I think he'll take the money this time around. And this is Oduya's big money contract coming up. He will never be worth more, and will want to get one big contract before retiring. I think you're better off counting those guys out.

A 23-man roster would also be a little more realistic, or 22-man with at least some cap space left.

Reading many of these replies as well as other reports, I still hold out hope that Saad will sign his new contract on a bridge deal for the good of his team. Yes, on the open market he could demand $5+M. And he just might be worth that ballpark amount right now as a Blackhawk. But realizing he WILL get top dollar in two short seasons, for the sake of potentially being a four time Cup winner by then, I believe a "HTD" in the $3.5M range may be in his best interests at this juncture. JMO.

I think this is a very solid roster. hopefully richards will sign for another cup because he is still being paid by NYR as well so the money is still there for him. plus him and kane seem to get along and i think he does want to come back

why sign him to a bridge deal? If they can lock him up for 5-6 years at 5.5 mil I would take that in a heartbeat. Bridge deal lets his value grow more and he commands more money.

hes played fifteen years, being paid for the next 10? years from NY. He doesn't need the money

Basically, because of timing. The cap space simply is not there this summer.

Buffalo isn't going to send their First Round pick to the Hawks for Sharp this year. Perhaps a future #1, but that still projects to be a high lottery pick, so I doubt it. Another team's #1 pick, perhaps.

Rarely does that last sentence actually mean anything in real life.
