Perrault really doesn't play that much (effective) centre does he? he's really a winger.

Why waste a first on a super average player?

I am a jets fan and have seen Perreault play center quite a bit. He just doesn't play that often because there are guys like Little, Scheiffle, Stastny, Lowry, copp, Hendricks and a lot of others are better at faceoffs but he is responsible on defence and is decent at faceoffs.

Perreault's production is average but his possession stats are top 10 in the league. Anyone he plays with, he makes better

Still, why would the Blues give a division rival a first rounder for their 7th best forward?

They wouldn't. This is silly.

the 28th OA rarely will be better than Perreault already is. And being the 7th best forward on the jets does not mean being a bad player. The jets arguably have the best forwards group in the league. The jets do this because they need the space and will give perreault to whoever is offering the most (STL or BUF)

The Blues wouldn't do this though because they can package the 1st with a prospect and get an actual top 6 player.

I think management would be willing to do WPG pick + Thompson + Sobotka and maybe like Barbashev or Schmaltz for Hoffman, Tyler Johnson, or Pacioretty. Additionally, I could see them being really bold and moving Parayko for Draisaitl. I just don't see Perreault as a legit top 6 player.
