Because he played in 45 games for Carolina last year and put decent numbers, and there's no reason he couldn't play 30-35 solidly behind Allen. Plus STL has better goalie coaches.

Well below average numbers... which is the norm for him.

Yeah he hasn't been good since 2011.... Not sure why we'd pay him that much to be a backup. Could pay Khudobin like 1.2mm for the backup.
