We need this? Although if Schmidt signs the extension, maybe.

Buffalo: That's a "no" from me. The offer is another 2nd pairing LHD (got enough of those already), an untested prospect (though he looks very promising in minors), a likely late 2nd rounder, and a big fat dead contract.

I'm thinking Colin Miller (Sabres do need 2nd pairing RHD) and Alex Tuch (youngster with good potential that has proven he can play in the NHL). Keep the pick and the anchor-contract.

Schmidt was lining up on his off hand side, so he would be the Sabres 2RD and definitely alleviates pressure from Risto. Sabres take on the anchor contract because they be further from the ceiling and it takes the cap headache away from Vegas, more of a favor than anything, but one that I think gets the deal done

after a 43 g 78 pt season and 15 points in the playoffs? No way he gets less than 8, compare that to Draisaitl.

Im not saying one is better than the other but, Draisaitl has had 2 70 pt seasons and 1 50pt season, at age 22, william Karlesson has had 1 70 pt and 2 20pt seasons at 25. There is a difference in consistancy there.

that’s why he’s not getting Kane money. Karlsson was relegated to 4th line minutes in Columbus for some reason and had 2x as many goals in this season as Drai in his contract year.

He didn't have 2 70 point seasons when he signed that contract.
