Just screwing around. I know none of this would happen. Thoughts though? Maybe just buy out Seabrook after the season instead?

No way, that's giving up too much for everything...

Hossa & pick #27 for Bobby Ryan and 4th overall would be a way better deal.

That would allow Ottawa/Melnyk to free up 6.275 in real cash to help get Karlsson resigned. Of course the Hawks would draft 4th, 8th & 27th and Bowman would also solve the "who's playing 2nd line LW" problem at the same time....

I like Karlsson a lot but not that much...

I mean trading Saad would be a stupid knee-jerk reaction...... Look, the whole team fell flat last season, it's not like Saad was the only one to have a bad season..... I would only trade Saad for a MASSIVE overpayment - I mean I would want a top 10 pick in this draft + a really really good prospect...

Besides, Karlsson is going to want 10 million at least to resign next summer and that is something the Hawks just cant afford - especially when we have Schmaltz's contract expiring, and I would think if he has an excellent 2018-19 season he's going to want at least a 3.5-4 million dollar bridge deal, then of course we have DeBrincat coming up in 2019-20 and the same goes for him - he's going to want a 3.5-4 million dollar bridge deal.....

So yea, a trade like this would put the Hawks right back into cap hell....

I would take Bobby Ryan and the 4th overall pick tho (Tkachuk)..... Heck it would be even better if Ottawa retained $1,000,000...

That just won't happen. Ryan and 4th for 8th and Anisimov maybe, with money retained on Ryan.

OH hell no - 8th would be out of the question...... 27th and Hossa for Bobby Ryan (6 million dollars in cash savings for Ottawa) and 4th overall..

If 8th overall was the counter proposal I would hang up the damn phone and not pick it up again if it was Ottawa.

Hossa's salary is only 1 million dollars, Ryan's salary is 7.25.

Why would Ottawa want Anisimov when his salary is like 4.50?

With Hossa Ottawa basically saves like 6 million dollars in real cash..... With Anisimov they save 2.75 million...

The whole point of that trade is to free up cash (because Ottawa is on a budget) so Melnyk can get Karlsson re-signed..

It's not like Hossa is hurting the Hawks at all - his contract doesn't handcuff Bowman on what he can spend this summer considering Bowman can go 10% over the salary cap in the off-season.

So Hossa has a lot of value, weather a team wants to dump a more expensive salary for Hossa's 1 million dollar salary, or even if teams want to use Hossa to circumvent the salary cap floor - because from a salary cap position Hossa is basically a 4.275 million dollar "salary cap coupon"... But in this trade Hossa would be used to free up real cash to get Karlsson re-signed ..... So yea, trading for Anisimov does nothing for Melnyk's $$$$ problem.....

Sure, if they wanted a warm body thrown into the trade (that can play) along with Hossa - I would toss in Duclair no problem.

I understand that, and I would LOVE if they did the deal you want. But why on earth would they give up a competent but overpaid winger AND 4th overall to save some money? That would be VERY poor management of assets...VERY poor. They don't need to move the 4th pick to keep Karlsson.
