Don't see the point in this for Ottawa. they're allegedly looking to get future assets for Hoffman (likely a prospect and a 1st) and even if they just flipped Skinner, they would get a worse return than what they could get for Hoffman.

I was looking at it as 1 less year under contract. And that money comes off the books when they start paying Karlsson

If you're trading Hoffman, it's not to move out cap. Even if you do, it still doesn't make sense to trade him for a less valuable asset with no future in Ottawa.

Ottawa is not a cap team they don’t like spending money and aren’t afraid to lose assets if it means saving $. they Save a little bit this year with Carolina retaining a mil.
