Look I have nothing against Tavares walking to Toronto but it’s just not possible. The cap number for Marner probably isn’t accurate either, and the defense is garbage. As you saw in the playoffs, the Leafs have a great offensive mix already, they just need defense.

Tavares makes sense in the 10-11M range. He's been in the league 9 years and has earned it but Matthews hasn't and in no way shape and form is Matthews worth 4M more than Marner and Nylander. Or more than Tavares.

I'm not a Kadri fan but his 64 goals and 116 points over the last 2 years at 4.5M instantly make him more valuable than Matthews at 2.5 times his salary.

it doesn't work. if would disagree when folks say the defence is garbage, by 2019 Dermot, Borgman Liljegren could be good NHLers, which leads to much higher salaries than given here. yes the cap goes up but not just for stars but for all players.
want taveres that's possible but nylander who is likely candidate would have to traded for cheap futures.
