So this brings up something I’ve been thinking of... the biggest issue holding Russian hockey back the past 15 years has been the blue line. If Sergachev can blossom into a true #1 elite defenseman good god help the rest of the world next Olympics. That is all

Okay.... Washington is divided on this trade offer, and on the annexation of Texas: MacLellan says, "no, we hadn't thought about trading Ovechkin and Kuznetsov." Trump says, "Da!"

Here's why the top pair is Orlov and Provorov at the moment: http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?report=skaterpoints&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=2&country=RUS&position=D&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=evPoints,points

Mediocre power play specialists can have high trade value, but they don't win you games on the world stage. No telling who develops into what when, but at the moment, he is a 19 year old who starts 70% of his even strength shifts in the offensive zone. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/sergami01.html

If he didn't have a few points in that kind of easy ice time, he'd be in the AHL.

That’s a good point. I didn’t even think of provorov.

Okay.... Washington is divided on this trade offer: Trump says "Da!" MacLellan says, "no, we hadn't thought about doing that."

As a fan in Flyover, I'm like, "who?" Who are these guys you want to trade for the NHL's leader in goals and playoff goals, many time MVP and finally, finally(!) playoff MVP; the LHD with the 11th most even strength points who also chips in a bunch of hits and blocks a few shots; the playoff leader in points; and a recent first round pick who just had the best rookie year of any goalie in KHL history?

It's not gonna happen, but I'm so sure it's not gonna happen that I can't even bring myself to google up the selling points on Faksa or Lindell to show you how much it's not gonna happen. Benn's elite, but so are 8 and 92, and the Caps have a team that's working pretty well together this year, if you hadn't noticed.

Thanks for the offer. I hate to join the majority of guys on here who respond with opinions and not stats, but if you're serious about trying to trade for Ovechkin, you should join the minority on here who politely but firmly support our wild ideas with numbers, facts, and reasons why something might help both sides in a proposed trade. What do you say? Just kidding? Thought so.

Whew!

In that case, I'm gonna go back and edit my response, so it looks like I was totally in on it!
