Is the signing of Tavares what’s makes trading Seguin easier? Just curious why trade him? Cap relief? I think it would cost a lot more than Dubois and a 2nd.

the problem with trading seguin is getting quality back if he wont sign an extension on trade day. I wouldn't give dubois away without seguins name on an extension.

I would say Tavares is a slight upgrade on Seguin and the combination of Tavares and Dubois is a big upgrade on Seguin.

PLD got 4 points in six games against the champs this Spring, as a rookie. Tyler Seguin has 21 in 49 playoff games. PLD's twenty hits in that series matched Seguin's rookie total from 74 regular season games. Columbus has no reason to consider this.

To compare their rookie season and try to equate PLD to where Seguin is today is a disservice to the player Seguin has become. Seguin was 18 and playing 11 minutes a night on a loaded Boston team. PLD was 19 getting 16+ minutes a night. Seguin wasn’t exactly asked to go out there and grind it out.
