Why not? Hamilton is an elite d-man, which NYI needs. Ryan's salary is retained to only a $5M per season and they also get a decent goalie which they also need.

Paul MacClean had his no trade list and 0 Canadian teams made his acceptable list. He wants to play in the US he said.

10 million dollars between Ladd and Ryan for the next 4 years is terrible cap management.
