Lol ok salty Sens fan. Kindof hard to ask for the moon when your team is garbage, your star defenseman knows it and wants out, and every team in the league could just wait a year and not give Ottawa anything. Ottawa would be lucky to get this much. Go look at your own fellow fans and the roster builds they have of dealing Karlsson away.
I'm not sure what trash talking the team is going to do for you, but have at it. As with any team in NHL history (and the majority of professional sports), there are ups and downs. Obviously, Ottawa is on a down swing. However, they're not going to give away the one guy who has something going for them for nothing.
To your first point: How do you know he wants out? There has been nothing of him saying that. It is never fun to lose, but I would say that you can't say for sure he wants out and I can't say for sure he wants to stay. Even if he does want out, it will have to be under Ottawa's terms or wait a year.
"Every team could wait a year and not give Ottawa anything". Actually, one team could do that. The point you bring up is true, but would never happen. The Sens either go into this year and re-sign him (likely upwards of 11mil/8yrs), or they trade him before the season starts. There is no sane scenario that this thing drags itself out until Ottawa ends up with nothing. That is just ludicrous.
Karlsson is on an extremely team-friendly contract for this coming year, and I would think a contender that had a 95% certainty they could resign him would give Ottawa a top prospect, first round pick, and 2/3 other pieces. The Bruins simply aren't a team that would fit what Ottawa would be looking for, nor would Ottawa trade him there. Doiron has said he does not want to deal with teams in the atlantic (as seen in the Hoffman deal). Do you think the Sens organization could live with having Karlsson play against them 7 times a year for a bad deal?
This trade just does not make sense for either side. Especially because Duchene is in there and you have Ottawa retaining salary on both guys. Heinen has had one (albeit good) season in the NHL--> very unproven. Zboril looks more and more like a first round disappointment every year. Krug is a nice piece, but why trade for a guy who would likely just walk away and you end up with nothing after? The first round pick next year will likely be in the 20's, making the 2nd rounder in the 50's, and this year's 3rd would be somewhere in the 80's. That for a Norris trophy winner in his prime and the guy you potentially traded a #1 pick for? Never.
