Do u really think Carolina will want Krejci and his bad contract? No team will want him if Boston don't retain at least 2M of his contract.

Backes contract is even worse, cause he's older and less productive.

Besides, Coyotes is not a tank of bad contracts anymore. They're building a team to go to playoffs in 2 or 3 years at most.

Maybe the Backes deal isn’t realistic but the Krejci deal definitely makes sense. I traded a bad contract for a bad contract. Victor Rask carries a bad contract. This trade would make Carolina instantly better. They’re only paying 3 million more for Krejci compared to Rask PLUS Krejci has 3 years remaining compared to Victor Rask’s 4 years.

And in 3 years Backes' contract will be expired so what's the problem?

But Rask is just a 25 player and it's quite different to carry a 4M bad contract than carry a 7M bad one. I respect your point view, but if I were Carolina GM, I'd never make that move. I'm sure that Hurricanes have better options than that. Bruins would be surely winners after that trade.

Do you really think that carry a huge bad contract like Backes for "just" 3 years is not that bad? If you say "yes", then be ok keeping him for your team till the end of his contract.

PS: I'm not a Carolina fan.

You said the Coyotes are looking to build a playoff team in 2-3 years max. The trade in this roster build has Backes going to Arizona. I said Backes contract will expire in 3 years (i.e. supposedly when the Coyotes will be ready to become a playoff team......lol), so what is the problem with them holding his contract until that time when they barely make the cap floor year after year.

Boston, unlike Arizona, hovers around the cap ceiling so no, asking Boston to hold onto his contract is not the same thing as asking Arizona to hold onto his contract.

First of all. I'm not saying that Arizona WILL be a playoff team next few years. But when you look at their moves, it quite obvious that they intend to.

Second, there're so many better ways to be above cap ceiling than trade for Backes. I'd never make that move if I were Arizona GM. I understand what you Bruins fans are trying to do. From your perspective it'd be very good moves indeed. But I'm impartial and everything I'm saying is not to benefit Bruins nor the other teams. It's just what I'd do.

But this is why I proposed the Krejci trade. It doesn't entirely favorite the Bruins. Carolina traded a future potential anchor dman in Hanifin along with Lindholm to get an immediate impact player in Dougie Hamilton. It seems to me that the Hurricanes are looking for an immediate help. There's also other reasons why I would have Krejci dealt to Carolina. First off, he can be a very intriguing role model to their young players. It adds a whole different leadership dynamic for that team. Their top center prospect, Martin Necas, is Czech just like Krejci. So they can groom Necas to be a #1 following the footsteps of Krejci and J. Staal, who are both winners in terms of their career stand point.

I could see your view that Rask is younger, but that Hamilton-Hanifin deal really convinced me that Carolina is looking for results as soon as next season. Krejci may have a big contract, but its only 3 million more for a team that has a ton of cap space and will be an immediate upgrade, provide a winning leadership-atmosphere, and groom center Martin Necas to a potential #1. Do I think all of this will happen? Probably not, this is just an idea if Tavares says he wants to sign with Boston. I do think that Carolina would be the best fit possible for Krejci. He's good for 50-60 points if he's on a first powerplay unit with high level of ice time. I think Carolina would take a Krejci upgrade over Rask considering Rask had stuggled to be a consistent top 6 producer for them, his game to me is best suited for a third line spot with powerplay time. While he does have, maybe one day, second line upside, this deal is all about immediate help and leadership for Carolina

I wasn't lol-ing at you saying they would be a playoff team. It was directed at the idea you think they are building towards being a playoff team. What exactly are they doing to make you think that lol? Re-signing OEL? Wow...the one soon to be UFA on that team that's worth more than a bag of pucks. Yup, definitely building for the playoffs! I'd even call them a Cup contender at that point!! What's another move? Trading Domi for Galchenyuk? So they traded a middling player for a slightly-less middling player who's closer to UFA and can promptly leave the team lol? Gosh, why don't we just give them the Stanley Cup now?? I mean, what's the point lol!

Like what, sign a free agent? Lol, hmmm...did the Arizona Coyotes make John Tavares' list of teams to meet with? *checks* Why no, they didn't! How could that be?!? Doesn't Tavares know they are building for the playoffs!!!!

But wait...what team did make that list? *checks again* Oh, that's right, the Bruins did.

You couldn't blackmail a free agent to go to Arizona, so please, tell me what "better" ways they could be above the cap floor (not ceiling btw).

Maybe they could dig up the rotting corpse of Jean Beliveau and sign him to a contract instead? I bet even Jean would probably say "Non, merci" and ask to be put back in the ground.
