kneel before saad

Description
- Most of you are thinking "Can't sign Saad to 6 mil bc of compensation." Well, I would call up Shanny in Toronto and offer him the two 2016 third round picks we acquired from NJ and BUF in exchange for our 2nd round back. Chicago won't match a 7yr/47.25mil contract. We toss them the 1st, 2nd(from TOR), and 3rd as required by compensation. Boom, he's coming home.

-St. Louis is in weird spot of being good on paper but not getting the results. Toss them a 20+ goal center, an unproven skilled winger, and a solid defensive prospect and Oshie is on his way to the Steel City.

-Let the kids play sheltered minutes on the fourth line and see what happens.

-Spaling may not be an ideal 3rd line center but he is picked up by two solid wingers.

By far the most enticing and exciting team proposed. I scrolled through a ton of proposals and this is the first one I said "Now that looks pretty solid". Love the idea of Kunitz and Dupuis on the third line because I'm not sure they are top 6 wingers anymore. Oshie and Saad are legit top 6 wingers. This team could take the cup. Nice job, it's very similar to what I had in mind.

Of course Chicago will match. 6 over 7 is still pretty good value. He might get six even without signing an offer sheet. You're gonna have to throw crazy money at him to get him. And if you do that, you're crippling yourself with an overpaid player.

I don't think it's realistic to think that Saad will be playing anywhere except for Chicago, but this would be pretty sweet. The defense would have me a little worried, but it would be worth it to have that top 6. I'd try to trim a little salary somewhere to sign a Fehr or Soderberg for the 3C, though. Would probably rather KK in the AHL than the 4th line, too.

I don't think Chicago can realistically have Hossa, Seabrook, Keith, Toews, Kane, and a 6 million dollar Saad. I would even throw in another .5-1 mil and feel okay about it because I could see him putting up a point per game with Sid/Geno. The defense isn't a powerhouse by any means but look at Chicago's defense that just won the cup. KK can stay in the AHL and replace him with Sheary/Rust/Farnham etc. There are a lot of serviceable young forwards for that spot. I would love to add Soderberg but some dumb team always overpays players like him. He'll get 4-5 mil/5 years easy and that isn't good value with Perron needing a new contract next summer.

Keith and Hossa have incredibly favourable cap hits.

Even 7 probably gets matched. You're gonna have to offer sheet him something like 8 or 9 mil per year over multiple years to pry him off Chicago. And then you're left with a player that produces at the rate of a $4M per, but getting paid $8M per. That's just unsustainable and you'd be looking to buy him out after two years or trading him away in a cap dump. All the while having given up your next 4 first round picks...

1. Theyre favorable but still over 5 mil each.
2. There is no way they match 6.5 let alone 7 bc they have to leave long term room for teuvo terravinen.
3. He is definitely not a "4mil" player. He's only 22, has 2 cups, and will eventually be a point per game player, with extremely high defensive ability. There isn't a player in the league who has his combination of assets.
4. Even if they offered him 8, which they never will. The compensation would still only be 2 first rounders (any combo from the next four years ), a second, and a third.
