What if they need to release 25% of contracts for expansion

Description
So what if this happens what happens to the roster especially if they need to be under contract for 17/18. Now seeing how well we are playing it is getting highly unlikely we get 1 st overall which I'm not really upset about this team is playing really good right now but onto bigger issues. it's an issue cause though we have maybe a goalie, 2 dman and maybe truly 5 forwards we would protect without any discussion I would hate to see one of them needing to be exposed to reach the 25%. Now I know some think the leafs will trade van Reimsdyk I disagree. Though his NTC could cause them to want to trade him why when they are trying to build and is only worth at best an extra 1.5 million. He is an Andrew Ladd type player Ladd is only making 4.4 now and probably will only get 1 - 1.5 million in free agency. Seeing he is still young why trade a building block that could easily resigned and we won't lose to expansion.

I think you have to 25% of the cap available in the draft. So it might be about 19m. Bozak, Komarov, and Lupul would waive his NTC....that's about 12.5m right there. Maybe Kadri at 5m....So there shouldn't be a problem.

I do believe it is an issue cause if we don't have anyone to replace let's say a Kadri exposing him would weaken an already weak team cause I'd be shocked if they wouldn't pick him up especially if he is signed long term. The point of this post was to point out they not only need to improve the team but make sure the core players they want to keep or be compensated for are not just given away for free. Kadri would be a player even if let's say they don't want him long term is still a player they would rather trade than give away. Also, I do belive I read somewhere that the 25%is based on how much of the salary cap you use next year not what the cap is at.
