I love this trade from a Blues perspective if we're trying to win now. Otherwise let the kids play

I think St. Louis has no choice but to be in win now mode. Petro, JayBo, Steen, etc aren't getting any younger...

Petro is 27 and will be in his prime for the next 3-5 years. As far as jayBo or Steen are concerned, JayBo has one year left and won't be resigned, Steen is 33 with 3 more years. He'd waive his NTC to be on a contender especially if the Blues eat a little salary. Blues can opt to let the kids play and do things right. with the depth of the western conference i don't see a scenario where the Blues can win with the current roster. They could do a quick retool (ala Boston) and turn it around quickly

This makes no sense though - why make 1 win now move and then put Steen at 2C and Sosh on 3rd line? That's a half ass play getting patches and doesn't make us demonstrably better.
