if im st louis why would I take this old dude for 6.5 million for 31 points a year. not for trent fredricks. Bjork, Heinen or maybe.

Frederic is a top prospect, and Backes has good leadership.

But If St. Louis countered with Bjork instead of Frederic, I'd take that.

I get that backes has a history in st louis but he is a cap dump and yeah hes a good guy but he will be hard to move without giving up pieces. i just think you'd have to bowl them over. Atleast to st louis he has a chance of waiving his no trade clause. much more plausible than all these krejci trades people have been pushing.

Trent Frederic is also from St. Louis. So for some reason people think St. Louis would find that appealing (people meaning one of the writers of the Boston Herald who floated this idea)

I'm also from STL. I think that Backes may still have a few more years in him, but his contract is an albatross and the Blues have to start developing and playing their younger guys. And, we still have Steen along with his falling production and lengthy contract. Not sure that there is interest in bringing him back.
