Might have a point that they aren't going to make the playoffs this year with them, so it'd be a graceful moment for each to retire.

I don't know how that squares with paying 9M to current all star Mike Green over two years while rebuilding through the draft. The above team has two defensemen with more experience than Green. Here are some other options: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/758012

Or you could see what teams will offer to unload a bad contract on another proven team leader like Seabrook, Lucic, or even Letang.

Z might not be back next year due to his back injury. There was an article released on it yesterday.

As stated above. He might not be able to play next year due to his back. I don’t want him to ever leave honestly lol. But figured if he goes, kronner can site his knee problems as reason to go as well.

True. However I feel realistically green at this is kind of what we can expect. And I don’t believe we will have issues affording it. Wouldn’t mind seeing another young defensemen make the team (hicketts or a trade) but I think green is probably what we will get. And I’m willing to accept it

Interesting. I agree that Green might sign that contract somewhere, but he didn't leave the Caps just for money. He moved on to join a contender, and I predict he'll do the same this year. So I wrote you a list with some helpful suggestions, above.

I saw it on the athletics post on Detroit free agency possibilities. It was quoted as “multiple sources”
