Youre kinda just doing mental gymnastics to think of a worst case scenario, which is fine, they should plan for it. But if Eichel goes down you could just slot Reinhart in their temporarily, move Pommer and Okposo to the top 6, and Bailey moves into the roster, who we know can provide good bottom 6 play. Larsson is also another decent center collecting dust on this roster, Botts is high on Malone, and he just traded for O'Regan. Their is more depth their than you are giving them credit for.
Well what I have seen from this team and organization is nothing that resembles a playoff team...... Your team has 10 new faces and your hope is that their styles, personalities and egos mesh..... I think that is a very tall task for a 2nd year Head Coach and 2nd year GM...... this team has had no clue how to play defense and until the forwards demonstrate that they understand and can play in the neutral and defensive zone and your DMen have shown they do not understand how to adeptly pass the puck onto a team mate's stick (instead of the forwards skates) I will continue to think this team has a better shot at being bottom 5 then a playoff team......
I have to disagree with you on Larsson he was a -30 last year..... I know I know I know plus/minus means nothing well I disagree if you are a -30 that means something bad..... too many stupid penalties.... 4 goals & 13 assists in 80 games in 17/18 proceeded by 5 goals 6 assists in 36 games in 16/17 & 10 goals 7 assists in .74 games in 15/16 is a sample size that states he is not NHL caliber...... btw 49, 20 & 27 Penalty minutes in those years..... a player that puts his team in odd man situations and does not score is not a player you can rely on getting you to the promise land.
GMBots is high on the players you have mentioned but he was also high on Beaulieu (swing and a miss)..... Antipin (a big miss just on how he was or was not used..... Until O'Regan, Malone, Baptiste, Bailey, Smith, Pu, et al actually produce in the NHL they all have promise well promise does not get you to the playoffs.
You want to give the organization the benefit of the doubt and see this as the glass is half full..... I see that there is NO GLASS and until they prove it to me on the ice there will continue to be NO GLASS...... Housley has to prove he can actually coach and get a room to believe in what he is selling.....
I may be a negative Nancy but I have earned the right to be so as I put down my hard earned dollars for my season tickets and faithfully watch every away game and attend the development camp as I have the last 2 days...... I am a realist not a dreamer.....
I appreciate the back and forth on this topic I can always count on you to provide a solid argument!!!!
