Description

Might seem cheap for SV, but he's damaged goods. Besides, the market for him will be slim which reduces any return. LA could be real buttholes and just sit on his rights for this year and not trade him (but then they theoretically lose out on a trade - probably a 3-5 round draft pick). He's still married to the same lady he assaulted, if she's been with him the last few years and has changed his ways, reinstatement should be considered.

If the Kings retained some salary, he’d be a decent 5/6 defensemen. I don’t think he’s going anywhere based on his leadership and physical play. I think they’ll finally need to move Martinez...

DP's contract is bad, but not $7.5 million bad. Ottawa retains some, we retain some, another team is only paying out $4mm which isn't terrible. And the actual cash to be paid out was front loaded and is now around $4.5mm per anyways. He would be a better contract than Ian Cole or Jack Johnson!
