No Rebuild - This Team is Better without JT Anyway!

Team: 2018-19 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 3, 2018
Published: Jul. 3, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Keep in mind - just trying to have some fun and get creative. With that being said, I actually think these are pretty fair trades. Painful for both sides and that's the mark of a solid deal.

Duchene and Karlsson sign extensions upon being traded here. (Duchene could very well be a TDL deal, same if the Stars stink again and then Seguin might be available.)

Duchene - I signed him to an extension of 8 x $7.875 AAV

Karlsson - I signed him to an extension of 8 x $11.375 AAV

Anders Lee - extension of 6 x $6.8 AAV

Eberle - extension of 6 x $6.8 AAV

Beauvillier - extension of 3 x $1.3 AAV

All of this leaves us at about $4,363,410 in cap space next summer, if the salary cap rises at the same level of this offseason by about 4 million.

That leaves us room to get a goalie and some depth parts, as well as leaving room for Wahlstrom to make the roster next summer if he's ready. We can certainly create some more space by buying out or trading Bobby Ryan and/or Ladd.

You'd have to put in better prospects to get OTT to accept, no one is going to want Clutterbuck on his deal.

De Haan's $$ is way too low, as is Beauvillier.

De Haan's money isn't too low, it's what he's projected to get. He just essentially missed the whole year, he's not getting a raise. (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q-Pnzfvmo_1hDlWu7WqJHVyTZqy15386jVESKSOf0V4/edit#gid=0)

Beau is right on par. As for the trade - taking on Bobby Ryan's contract allows for these pieces to be fair. Ottawa also will have no problem taking on Clutterbuck's contract in exchange for getting rid of Ryan's. They will also have to get to the floor...

Well the $$ for de Haan is for 1 year, with multiple teams bidding on him, he will get 3+ over 3-4 years.

AB is a RFA after next year, he will get way more than 1.3, especially if he builds off his 21 goal season.
