How are they not? you don't think Leivo could play in the NHL somewhere if given the right opportunity? As for Bracco, i think he can take a really big step with the Marlies this year with more ice time, I wouldn't be surprised to see him up with the Leafs in 2-3 years.

Leivo is a 2011 draft pick who still can't crack it. Bracco has more to do to prove he is anything more than a depth AHL player at this point.

You aren't getting a top 4 defenseman and a top 10 pick for that

a 3rd round pick would be the highest return you'd get on a Bracco or Leivo...and even that is pushing it.

Just adding them in to a trade and hoping it bridges a talent-gap is often what draws the ire of other fan bases

Not arguing this trade really, I just think Leivo hasn't played because of the depth in Toronto and it seemed like either Babs or Lou or both really didn't like this guy. I could see Dubas giving him his chance this year and i'm sure a lot of other teams would take a chance on him. Bracco certainly has alot of strides to make but this year but he's in good hands with Sheldon Keefe and the Marlies organisation which has seemed to be very productive in showing players what it takes to play at the next level, especially with young players like Bracco.

I'm not saying they have a ton of trade value i just think you have to consider what another team might think of a player or where they can see them fitting into their own lineup.

agreed...they are assets that can certainly continue to appreciate...but as trade bait...they'd be pieces another GM would look to buy low on and hope for that appreciation...not ones that excite them to relinquish some of their own top assets for.

Exactly, a team like Edmonton comes to mind, McDavid can put up 100 points with me and you on his wings. Leivo is a skilled offensive player and can really shoot the puck. If I'm Chiarelli why not take a chance on basically a no risk acquisition at $925,000. Cant be much worse than Lucic or Cagguila.
