You haven't offered much value in any of those deals for the other side to even consider.

I'll go ahead and say there's a 0% chance the Sharks and Big Joe would agree to a 1-yr deal only to trade him to Toronto

I don’t see why the sharks trade makes sense leafs would be giving up a lot for old 4th line players

I looked at this again and really cringed....for Toronto to be sucessful in the coming years...we're going to need a steady pipeline of marlies ready to fill in bottom 6 roles on cheap contracts when some of our complimentary players price themselves off this team.

Giving away all those draft picks for 1 shot this early in the process is wasteful....thankfully those teams wouldn't accept those offers anyway

To start, so Zaitsev isn't worth a 2nd round pick? I don't particularly like him, but he's definitely worth Calgary's 2nd round pick.

Why wouldn't the Shark's trade Big Joe to Toronto? What's wrong with Toronto? angry Tacotaker1 has it right when he says: " Leafs would be giving up a lot for old 4th line players."

I personally like the 4th line I created and the drugs I'm on. flushed cheeks

Haha.

I can’t see a scenario where the sharks and Thornton would agree to a 1-yr $5m extension, and then 1 week later they trade him.

Why? It’s less than his last contract and the most they were willing to pay. Why not trade him now to get value?

It’s bad business. He was a UFA. The sharks or Thornton could have walked away from each other but they agreed to a 1yr deal. Would be classless to try and trade him.

Plus he has a NMC so why would he sign with SJS and waive it a week later when he could have just negotiated his own contract with whatever team he wanted?

A chance at winning a cup is a powerful incentive.
