If acquiring Karlsson was even in the cards, we'd have to send Niskanen or Orlov the other way, or we couldn't afford it next year. We'd also probably be kissing Backstrom goodbye the year after that because there's no way we'd have the money to retain him.

Agreed. If Carlson didn’t resign and I honest wish he didn’t. Then Washington would be all over a Karlsson trade, but you can’t have almost 20 million tied up between two right handed defensemen. Oh well. [}=[[[[[[[
