Without much trades, seems decent to me. Defense isn't strong but players could grow. Did I mess up on any contracts?

I think this is close but you might have to add money to all of the contracts. Nylander won't sign for less than Pasternik signed for ($6.66M) Marner will sign for around what Draitsatl signed for ($8.5M) and Matthews will probably sign in the $11.5-$12.5M range. Unless these guys decide to take home town discounts, which would be amazing. I think I would rather see Grundstrom as the 4th line LWand Lievo not on the team. Also there is no point in buying out Horton when you can add him to LTIR for free. Money isn't a problem in TO.

It's also a lot of pressure on an unproven D Core. I think Zaitsev should bounce back but who knows if Liljegren and Borgman will be any good. I also think that Babcock hurt Carrick's development by playing Polak instead of him. I would like to see what he does in an 82 game season. I think this would be the contracts:

Matthews ($11.5M)
Marner ($8.25M)
Nylander ($6.75M)
Kapanen ($2.525M)
Johnsson ($2.125M)
And I would put Sparks ($1.25M) in over Pickard

That would leave us with 22 players and only about $110k in cap space. It's tight for sure.

Take off that 250K for Marner and give it to Nylander and that is more likely I think and it'll get Nylander to agree to 8 years. Better cost certainty on the 8 year deal.

I feel like Nylander is signing a 6 year deal. I agree though if it's 8 it will be over $7M.

And how you can fit 4M in bonuses

Agreed grundstrom over leivo
Also lindholm in 4C spot
Johnson and kapanen on 3rd line w Kadri makes more sense
Lilgren jumping to top pair in rookie season???

For the small amount extra they'll have to pay to get him to 8 years, just makes sense. I don't think its going to be in the millions. I imagine 6.5 gets him 7 years and if you go up another 500K he'll get to 8 years.
