We just don't have the right to keep Ryan and Okposo on their contracts, just one of them. Also, I do not welcome trade Scandella. Why did Pittsburgh want to get rid of Hunwick and we had him in the second pair, and with Dahlin?

scandella is not that good. Hunwick was too expensive for Pitt, hes still a good on ice leader, for Dahlin to learn from, and Guhle isnt stepping into that spot yet. Youre going to have a hard time moving Okposo, but the Sabres will have big cap coming off the books over the next 2 years anyway. 2 years down the road you can explore moving one of them, if you have to, and maybe by then their value will have increased

Scandela is not a top pairing defensman, but he still is a good defenseman. Should not trade him away. Also, no way we get Johnson when OTT is the one giving away Karlsson. Plus, we would be putting ourselves into a rough salray cap situation with these moves. Nic thought, but I wouldn't do the trade.

McCabe is cheaper than Scandella and has better stats, while playing hurt last year and playing with lesser line mates, than Scandella who was healthy and playing with Risto. Johnson is who they are looking to pair with Callahan to move him, they know they are going to be selling low to get their cap space, and that Ottawa 2nd is probably a lock at #32 OA next year, so the deal isn’t even that far off to begin with before you factor in Karlsson. Sabres wouldn’t be in a rough salary cap situation they have 7.2 at least coming straight off the books next year and only need to resign McCabe and Ullmark. Then they have another 11 plus coming off the books the next year and the cap will increase a little in both off seasons, this wouldn’t even stress Botts
