AJP, you might be right. However, I am not sure he's gunna get it. Panarin is a great player, but he's been bouncing around and seems likely to be traded a second time in his short NHL stint. he doesnt have the brand value of tavares, even though he might have the numbers.
cooch is 100% not going. No way I can see dougie moving hertl or meier either. Given that, Labanc and Tierney are the only top 9 forwards under 26 that the sharks would dangle. If that doesnt get it done along with prospects and picks, then it doesnt get done.
SJ is not in desperation mode. They dont NEED Panarin. However, CLB cannot allow a tavares like departure. If Panarin isnt gunna resign in CLB, he'll have to be traded. I would doubt other teams would pony up 50-60 point young guns for him given his salary and term demands along with his multiple traded history, which is often (rightly or wrongly) considered a bad sign.
