Not sure Detroit trades Ericsson at this point. Pretty certain that the Islanders would be on his 19 team no-trade list as well. If Zetterberg goes to the LTIR I don't see them making moves on the backend just yet.

It would be just awful if the league lets Detroit get off the hook for years of cap circumvention if Henrik gets LTIR and not the cap recapture penalty. But this is the NHl

1. It would be legitimate - He has had chronic back issues for years.
2. That is the loophole - They won't be the only team doing this, it happen every year and for longer periods of time (Pronger, Franzen, Horton, Clarkson). Hell Pronger was even getting paid as an executive of another NHL organization while still being on a roster (on the LTIR)
