Wow they have traded away some really good players. Most of which was done by Chairelli. What a joke of a GM, just got lucky when he won the cup. He has zero business as a GM in this league.

of the players on taht list, Chiarelli has traded two. Vlad Sobotka, and Tyler Seguin. Two. One of whom was in Russia in a couple years. The other brought a 30-30 two way forward and a presidents trophy team.

You're an idiot. The guy brought the Bruins from 5th worst in the league to a perennial power house in just a couple years, and built the entire team himself with the exception of Bergeron, who he re-signed....twice.

All he did was draft 18 of those guys, and build an elite cup contending team that had a solid 6 year window. That's very impressive in this age.

Learn before you type, bud.

He also trade Kessel but that one was a terrific trade and terrible for Burke. I give credit where its due and I think a lot of the good players that are there are due to other guys work.

I thought he traded Hamilton as well but I was mistaken.

However, the Seguin trade was terrible and he's made a lot of other questionable calls as well. Hall for Larson, Gryba etc.

I think he got lucky in Boston. Had a good group to start with and then hit a grand slam on the Kessel deal and won a cup. He then systematically messed it all up with the seguin trade and was very soon fired.

Now he's in Edmonton trying to understand why trading fast talented forwards for big slow bruisers doesn't win cups anymore.

He's one of the worst GM's in the league.

Jeff Gorton also set Chiarelli up for success. He ran the Bz 2006 draft (Kessel, Lucic, Marchand), acquired Tuukka Rask from the Leafs for Andrew Raycroft and signed Chara and Marc Savard on July 1, 2006.

what was this good group he started with? Bergeron was the only meaningful player on the team when he took over that was still there when they won the cup. Obviously Thomas played a role, but Chiarelli gave him that job to begin with. He acquired every single defensemen that won the cup. Krejci was in the minors and wasn't drafted by Chiarelli. The top six wingers, lucic, Horton, recchi, marchand….all Chiarelli guys. the entire bottom six were Chiarelli guys.

no he didn't. you can't honestly believe that Chiarelli wasn't pulling the strings there. Chiarelli couldn't officially take over because of conflict of interest issues, but if you think that In a month or two gorton drafted kessel, lucic, marchand, traded for Tuukka, and signed Savard and chara, and took TEN YEARS to get another GM job, I'd like to know what kind of drugs your on. Chara even publicly thanked Chiarelli for being the one to bring him to boston, before being shushed by everyone that wanted to avoid tampering charges. JFJ mentioned something about negotiating with Chiarelli for Rask before the topic was quickly changed.

Good for him, he made it work, although they don't win the cup if the reffing would have been consistent with how things were called in the regular season. I'm not saying they were 1 sided, they didn't call anything. That final was just ugly, both teams were just hauling each other down all the time, it was old school clutch and grab and the much bigger and stronger team beat the vastly more talented team. Again not taking anything away from the fact they won, or the team that was built. They won the cup.

All I'm saying is that team wouldn't even make the playoffs in the speed game that we have today and thats how the canucks were built for the cup run. Fast and skilled which won them the presidents trophy but none of that matter when the refs let literally everything go in the final.

I can't remember what game it was but I saw some Cancuck defender skate over to one of the bruins who was somewhat close to the puck but didn't have it at the time and the Canuck player just grabbed him and threw him to the ground. The ref was watching it all happen and just let it go. Marchand threw about a thousand slew foots in front of the ref and no calls. It was a free for all. Just ugly wild stupid clutch and grab nonsense. Also that went 7 games.

Believe what you want. It's been very public that Gorton that Draft. But it's ok, you're just a very sour Bruins fan

Okay, just ignore what I said. that's fine. So correct me if I'm wrong, but you think the following:

Chiarelli had been hired, but couldn't officially take over because of his relationship with Ottawa.
Chara lied about who signed him
JFJ lied about who he worked out a trade with
Gorton had the best month stretch of any GM in the history of GMs, traded for Rask, drafted Lucic, Kessel, and Marchand, signed Savard and Chara, and couldn't find another job as a GM for ten seasons.

If you think that's the case buddy, you're just plain old stupid. why weren't other teams hiring gorton? why did chara lie? with did JFJ lie? Or maybe, you can put 2+2 together and get 4. Chiarelli was hired by the bruins. He talked to JFJ, he set his draft board. He told chara (who played for him in Ottawa) what his plans were, and gave him an offer. Or it's the greatest coincidence of all time. whatever.

cool. I don't think any of that is true except for the part where it went 7 games. when did I say otherwise?
