Karlsson isn't going to hit free agency. He's going to be traded to Tampa, Dallas, or Vegas and sign long-term there.

Yeah the reason he got 8 years was because i assumed he got traded to Tampa. Should have included the trade. WIll fix this rn.

I assumed this was a sign and trade...

I'm not saying Palat isn't a nice player, but the Rangers wouldn't be too hot for an upper 20's LW (there are a lot of LW options on the team), and have less reason to move a 2nd rounder.

    let's try:

    Callen Foote
    Ryan Callahan

    for

    Chris Bigras or Brandon Crawley
    2020 3rd round pick

As a sens fan that's a pretty good package, but the picks are way too late. 2021 is like 3 years from now. Should be a 2019 1st and a prospect instead.
Only problem with Palat is that he has a NTC and wouldn't waive to go to Ottawa. The only player I could see being moved out is Miller because he doesn't have a NTC.

ahhh didnt realize palat had a NTC. I think Miller could be put in that deal instead of Palat, and it wouldn't make a big difference.
