Description
I think HCBP will try Tkachuk on Gaudreau-Monahan line as RW. That might pan out extremely well.

1.
FLA
  1. Frolík, Michael
Additional Details:
Florida gets proven middle-6 two way winger who would help defensively on 3rd line probably (playing with Borgstrom) and he will waive his NTC for Florida, he knows it there because he played there. In exchange CGY gets cap dump Jamie McGinn and defensive partner for Valimaki which I find pretty fair to be honest.
2.
CGY
  1. Cehlárik, Peter
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Bennett, Sam
Additional Details:
This move would mean restart of career for Sam Bennett who fell very very much.. I wouldnt doubt him as a bust yet. Getting him to Boston would benefit both organizations. Bennett would get opportunity to revive his career and will provide cheap middle-6 LW option for Bruins who would help him a lot. And he can play your 3C if needed. In return Calgary would exceed their Slovak Legion to 4 players by adding Cehlarik who has potential to be middle-6 two-way winger who can play on special teams (he has done it in Boston during his tenure) and is very good defensively and pick.
3.
CGY
  1. Neuvirth, Michal
Additional Details:
This move would mean freeing the spot for Carter Hart who is going to be a Flyer next season if everything goes according to plan. Neuvirth will provide solid backup for Smith while younger G prospects are developing.

  1. 2020 3rd round pick (CGY)

I’m not a Flames fan but here’s my take.

I like the Fromik trade. I think with the additions of James Neal and Derek Ryan, the top 9 is a little crowded. It makes sense to flip a top 9 player for quality depth players that fit the Flames style.

That being said, I think if they move one of those guys, they won’t move another, so I don’t think Bennet would be traded too. Bennet also brings a different skill set, where as Frolik is easily replaceable by Neal on the second line.

For the third trade - this is where my lack of knowledge of the Flames comes in - I would think that with all the young goaltenders they have on the cusp of the NHL, it might make sense to keep the back up spot open for guys like Rittich, McDonald, and Parsons to get some games in the NHL, but that’s just my opinion.

If I were Bill Peters, I would have:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Neal
Jankowski-Bennet-Ryan
McGinn-Czarnik-Dube/Lazar

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Valimaki/Kulak-Petrovic

Rittich/McDonald/Parsons

I like your take. I agree with you on goaltenders but I think one of them would be moved for a starter since none of those is starter caliber prospect (in next part I traded for Holtby who is replaced by Samsonov in WSH). I think that players from top-9 on the move would be Bennett who got every opportunity to succeed but is still struggling and Frolik, who is good but Flames should take advantage of him being good. I would like for good of Bennett and Flames to separate their ways. Also it would open up cap space and roster spot for Foo or someone else later. Those lines are me trying to get every line of top-9 to produceand be good in all 3 zones.

I like where you are going with this, though I complete agree with rtapp that Bennett likely doesn't get moved if Frolik goes (or at all this year). If FLA is willing to make that trade for Frolik, I think Calgary would be wise to do it and trading a Top 9 for defensive depth is exactly what this team needs (along with unloading Stone).

The goalie situation is the biggest questionmark. I think Calgary wants to leave room for a you guy to step up, but right now if you could trade one of them in a package to get a legit long-term solution, I think you have to do it. The flames have a window that is now wide open for a few years, and we don't have time to wait out a young goalie (they aren't all Matt Murrays!).

This is one of my favorite posts, if not my favorite. I like the trades, I like the reasoning, it make sense on all sides.

I’m not entirely sold on the valuations here, but they aren’t crazy by any means. And generally I like the players you’re targeting. Prefer to keep Bennett in the fold. This year will be the first real look at him with solid line mates. Peters has a ton of line options.

Dube to LW, Neal to RW. Love that line. Huge fan of Dube long term and I’d love to see a few young guys win roster spots with this competitive forward group.

The D pairings look excellent.
