Pacio to Chicago

Created by: V1NnY2
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2018
Published: Jul. 13, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With their recently obtained cap space, CHI can make a move to get back to the playoffs.

They already have a good 1-2C duo in Toews and Schmaltz, so Anisimov becomes expandable (and would move salary to sign Pacio to an extension).

This scenario takes into account that Patches signs an extension. Otherwise, that's a deal breaker and CHI would probably pay only picks for him.

They add depth to their D with Benn, while MTL cashes in on a top prospect and a 2C who would be their 1C.

The picks in this trade could be different, but the retained salary by MTL adds value to the trade to justify the 2nd rounder (plus, they get a 4th back).

Trades not terrible but Chicago already filled their overpaid #7 Dman quota with Manning, they dont want Benn. I'd rather you give us another mid round pick or a guy like scherbak or shaw with some dollars retained

I agree with Brother @newman23 that Benn isn't a great fit. Moreover, with Weber out for 25 games or so, Benn might be called into service on the right side, which is where he was stronger.

While, like most Habs fans, I wish Pacioretty would fetch his real value, that is unlikely given how he has been denigrated. A deal like this might even be too much to ask now.

It's crazy to think that his value was significantly higher than that at last year's trade deadline and even at the draft. They messed it up big time and that's why I hope they would AT LEAST get a top prospect for him.

As for the Benn option, I don't think the Habs are going to re-sign him anyways and he's 30 so the Habs probably want to get younger. I don't think Benn would be a huge loss considering they only paid a 4th rounder to get him.

Take out Benn and the 4th and swap Jokiharju for either Chad Krys or Ian Mitchell. Hawks aern't dealing Jokiharju.
